James Blunt has announced his new album, and to promote his album, he’s put an interesting twist on things. We all know Facebook recently launched Places in the UK, though it’s been available here for a while. This has allowed English singer-song writers such as James, as well as other British celebs, to take advantage of the promotional ability of the service. Allegedly, people who attended the launch party in Central London of his new album titled , Some Kind of Trouble, were able to download three free songs if they checked in on Facebook Places letting their friends know where they were. No here’s a change for once: we here in the US won’t have that album available to sus until 2011. Blunt will also use Facebook Places throughout his 2011 tour of Europe, giving fans free live downloads of upon checking in with him.  Of course, the offer is only available to those in countries where Facebook Places is available. Using Facebook Places is a pretty bold move for him to promote his new album. Is this a good thing? A bad thing? Do you use Facebook Places? Or something else like Foursquare? Or not at all?
