Pinterest is the the newest in hot social media networks. It is a network of great ideas and cool trends that people can search for and save their favorites. With already over 10 million 1st time visitors since last May, it might just grow bigger than Twitter!
OK, it isn’t as popular as Twitter yet, however, it’s growing quite quickly. It’s a lot of fun to see cool ideas such as dinner for the weekend, or maybe cool picture ideas if you are having your pictures taken. And according to SocialMediaToday.com, they expect it to be more popular than Twitter for a few reasons.
First, it’s opinion free. The only opinion is that if you “pin” it to your board, you obviously like it. But no one can comment on it and say that it’s a stupid idea.
Second, it’s very easy. There are no hashtags needed to understand how to post and like something on Pinterest. Once signed up, all you do is click on a picture you like, and if you want to add it to your board, you click “pin.” That’s it! For future reference, you can find it on your board of saved things you like.
Third, the demographics are totally different than those on Twitter. “These are not tech-savvy ‘early adopters’; they are just ordinary people. There are far more ordinary people in this world than the geekier crowd.”
The only downfall is that it’s invitation only at this point. So, if you have a friend that is on Pinterest at this point, I suggest to have them sign you up! Read more about it at SocialMediaToday.com
