Twitter, the social networking site that has taken over the internet, is coming to the D! The social media company has its headquarters located in San Francisco, is expanding to the M@dison Building in Downtown Detroit, o a Quicken Loans Inc. statement that was released today (Wednesday). The M@dison Building is a renovated building owned by Rock Ventures LLC, which is an umbrella group that works with real estate and investments for Dan Gilbert’s companies, including Quicken Loans. Gilbert has been working to create a technology focused building Downtown that he calls “WEBward Avenue”. Gilber stated, “Twitter coming downtown is exactly the kind of innovative company Detroit needs to advance our vision of becoming one of the most exciting high-tech and web-centered corridors of growth and activity found anywhere.”
“Detroit’s emerging mix of automotive and digital cultures made it a natural location for Twitter’s newest office,” explained Adam Bain, Twitter’s president of global revenue. He went on to say, “We’re excited to work face-to-face with the city’s most established brands and happy to play a role in downtown Detroit’s digital renaissance.”
This office will mark as Twitter’s first location in Michigan. There is no word of how many jobs will be available with Twitter, but the number of staff will grow over time.
