When former The X-Factor (UK) finalist Cher Lloyd visited B96/ Chicago during her promo tour across the U.S in support of her new single “Want You Back,” she showed off her new hairstyle to the world for the first time. She chopped off her long, luscious locks to rock a shorter summer do.

Even though 18-year-old Cher models, acts, and sings, music has always been number one for her. “Of all the things that I do, whether it be photo shoots for somebody, and a bit of acting here, and a bit of writing there, it’s the music that I’m most passionate about. I feel like that’s where I started off, and that’s where I want to carry on, and everything else is just a bonus.”

Since Cher was introduced to the music scene in the UK as a contestant on The X-Factor, she knows what it’s like being an aspiring artist in a very competitive industry. She has some advice for any musician out there trying to make it on a music competition TV show.

While reflecting on The X-Factor, Cher said, “I feel like different people are right for a TV show. Some people are right, and some people are just not right. It all depends on the style of music, and it depends on the sort of person you are, whether you want to be publicized everywhere, whether you want your pictures taken everywhere, whether you want all your business to be heard by everyone, so it varies. But I’d say go for it, if you’re that type of person that’s willing to take all that on.”

At the end of the day, any successful artist needs support. Cher knows how lucky she is to have such a devoted fan base. “I’m glad that I’ve got fans at this early stage in my career in America because I feel like they can now come with me (I hate to to say the word ‘journey’), but come on my journey, so I’m very grateful for that.”
