Batman Massacre….Why Did It Happen?

Usually on a Friday everyone is super excited for the weekend.  Batman fans are double excited right now, or shall I say were excited with the release of  The Dark Knight Rises which opens up today.  This morning the world woke up to the tragic news of the shooting at a Colorado movie theater where a crazed man James Holmes 24, opened fire and killed 12 people and injured 59.  Children were targeted in this mass shooting.  One of the survivors said she wished he would of taken her life instead.

How does a fun night out at the movies end in terror? We are all left with the question of, “why did this have to happen?” Unfortunately we’ve had killing spree’s before and usually the shooters take their own life, but James Holmes didn’t.  He didn’t put up a fight either when police arrested him outside the theater. Holmes is currently in police custody. We don’t know the motive yet.

In this moment we are all reminded how precious life is and how everyday is a blessing.  I know as soon as I get home I’m gonna give my two little girls the biggest hug ever and spend every waking moment with them this weekend.  Screw the house work or other “obligations” we sometimes have to do that takes us away from enjoying our family.  Every moment we have with the ones we love should be embraced and that’s what I plan on doing this weekend.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims families and friends who lost their precious loved ones at what should of been a fun night out at the movies.
