DETROIT! Cross your fingers and let’s hope we don’t see another ‘Detroit 187’. Eddie Murphy and a friend are shopping a TV version of “Beverly Hills Cop”.   The pitch is being taken to broadcast networks this week.

Murphy starred in the three films as Detroit detective Axel Foley, working in Beverly Hills. He would have an onscreen role in the spinoff and executive produce.   The project is described as an hour-long crime show with comedic elements. Murphy would appear in the pilot and a few episodes throughout the first season.

Back in November, Murphy confirmed that there wouldn’t be a fourth movie in the franchise and that he was interested in telling a different story. He’s been hoping to “produce a TV show starring Axel Foley’s son, and Axel is the chief of police now in Detroit.”
