Ten Hit Songs Originally Meant For Other Singers

There are so many hit records that might not of been hits if they were recorded by other artist. Here’s TEN hit songs that might not of been!

One of Rihanna’s biggest records and video almost wasn’t hers! Last week, Nicole Scherzinger revealed in an interview that she had the chance to record “We Found Love,” the Calvin Harris produced dance track. “I passed on ‘We Found Love,’ Scherzinger admitted to Notion Magazine. “I was given the demo of that song and I was busy at the time.” I bet you Nicole regret’s that choice! Do you think that song would of been as big of a hit if she recorded it and not Rihanna?

Before Lady Gaga blew up she was writing songs for other artist. Gaga wrote Telephone for Britney Spears “Circus” album, but Britney rejected it!!! Lady Gaga saved that song for herself and ended up recording Telephone for her album! Smart move Lady Gaga. I personally don’t think Britney could of done that song justice the way Gaga did with of course adding Beyonce to it! Beyonce would of never worked with Britney Spears.. What do you think?

One of my favorite songs is Adam Lambert’sWhataya Want From Me,” Lambert’s biggest hit to date almost wasn’t his!! Pink co-wrote that song for her Funhouse album with Max Martin and Shellback, but decided to give it to the “American Idol” runner-up. Pink did go on to recorded her own version of “Whataya Want From Me,” complete with the exact same arrangement, and placed it on her “Greatest Hits… So Far!!!” compilation in 2010. As much as I love Pink, I love Adam on this song so much more and so glad he was able to record it. Your thoughts?

In 2007 Britney Spears was in need of a comeback after her meltdown. Legend has it that “Umbrella” writer/co-producer The-Dream offered the song to Britney as a way to put her back on top, but her management rejected the track, which eventually went to Rihanna and of course became a No. 1 record!! Hard to imagine anyone’s voice but Rihanna’s on this song. Vote on this one!

Rock Your Body turned down by Michael Jackson given to Justin Timberlake!

Since You Been Gone was written for Pink and she turned it down. Then it was given to Hillary Duff who didn’t want it either, and finally given to Kelly Clarkson who turned it in to a massive hit record!

N—as In Paris turned down by Pusha T and recorded by Jay-Z & Kanye West

Nothin On You given to Lupe Fiasco but the label rejected his version. The song was then given to B.O.B and Bruno Mars which became their break-out hit!

I’m sure Christina Milian regrets this one! S.O.S was first given to Milian who passed it up! S.O.S was then recorded by Rihanna which gave a young Rihanna her first #1 single!

The song that put Britney Spears on the map almost never happened! Baby One More Time was written for TLC and their “Fan Mail” album. The R&B group turned it down so Max Martin gave it to Britney Spears which blew her up!!! If Baby One More Time would of never been recorded by Britney, would Britney be the massive pop star she is today??
