Rumors have been swirling around that the city of Detroit might put in a bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics, but Mayor Dave Bing shot that down pretty quick. Bing said the timing couldn’t be more wrong for the city with it’s financial troubles being the major factor.

I know you are probably thinking ‘Do you know how much money the 2024 Summer Olympics would bring to the city.’ It could defiantly get the city of Detroit back on it’s feet. The only problem is that you need $10 million up front to bid with an additional $3 million for operation budget.

Bing also said Detroit would be a prime location given how close it is to the border and the history of hosting other huge events like the Super Bowl and World Series. Expect one of the other competing cities such as New York, Chicago, Boston, Denver, Dallas and San Francisco to host the 2024 Summer Olympics.
