Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are asking fans to join them in the Nature Conservancy’s eco-friendly “All Hands on Earth” movement.

The worldwide movement encouraged people to take care of the planet and reconnect with nature.

In a new video, they talk about growing up Seattle in the 80’s and spending time outside instead of being plugged into the computer.

Macklemore said:

“One kid in a four-block radius had a Nintendo – there was no Internet, there was no computers, it was like ‘Cops and Robbers,’ ‘Capture the Flag,’ let’s use our imagination and kick it outside. I think that that’s something that unfortunately kind of lost in this generation. We have so many distractions on an immediate level – indoors.”

The band is challenging fans to sign up at allhandsonearth.org where the Nature Conservancy will offer tips on small steps that can help the environment, provide opportunities for volunteer activities and accept donations.
