A nonprofit organization in Houston, Texas is passing out free guns to single women and residents of high-crime areas.

While many cities have tried gun buy-back programs, this is the first neighborhood in the country being trained and equipped by the Armed Citizen Project to give guns out to people instead of take them away.

Supporters of the group say that giving guns away to responsible owners is actually a better way to reduce crime.

The organization plans to offer training classes in Dallas, San Antonio, and Tucson, Arizona in the next few weeks, and is working to expand to 15 cities by the end of the year, including Chicago and New York. Should Detroit or Flint be on this list? Do you think it will help or hurt?
