Lorde, who’s song Royals continues to dominate the charts, is about to see more dollar signs! Not bad for someone who just turned 17 last week.
The young singer just signed a new publishing deal with boutique house Songs Music Publishing, which gives them the rights to license all of her music. This deal is reported to have paid Lorde up to $2.5 million!
Apparently there was a little bidding war between other publishing companies. Lorde’s manager, Tim Youngson, explained since other big artist signed with Sounds Music, like Nelly and The Weekend, Lorde liked the idea of being with those types of artist for future collaborations! Youngson went on to say,
“Even before signing her [Sounds Music] were bringing her options for collaborations and introducing her to other songwriters. The decision wasn’t made on money.”
Make that $$$$$ while you’re hot girl! Congrats Lorde!
