Though the petition to have Justin Bieber deported back to Canada may have started out as something of a joke, the whole situation just got a little bit more serious.

According to a report from the Washington Times, the petition has hit 100,000 signatures, which apparently means that the White House must officially respond to the campaign.

“He is not only threatening the safety of our people but he is also a terrible influence on our nations youth. We the people would like to remove Justin Bieber from our society,” the campaign on states.

The New York Daily News reports that the petition was started by an anonymous creator in the Detroit area following the 19-year-old’s most recent legal issues, which began when he was pulled over in Miami for allegedly drag racing under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The Washington Times states that it’s unlikely that the White House will respond to the petition anytime soon, noting that it can sometimes take years for any action to be taken on a successful campaign.

In the meantime, Beliebers everywhere have refused to take the deportation situation lying down, and have launched a campaign of their own to save their beloved Biebs.

“The whole idea of Justin Drew Bieber getting deported, is completely unfair. He doesn’t deserve this…. With your help, we can stop it. He’s human. He’s not perfect,” the counter-petition reads at

As of Wednesday, January 29 at 3:30pm, the counter-petition has a total of 1,697 signatures, while the campaign calling for the pop superstar’s deportation has 114,442 signatures.

Meanwhile, Bieber’s arraignment for his arrest last week is scheduled for February 14, during which time, any formal charges will be announced.
