As a fan of The Wanted I was so shocked to hear they broke up! We’ve been waiting to hear what happened and the details are starting to come out!

Bandmember Siva Kaneswaran apparently told Perez Hilton that it all happened over the phone:

“Honestly all I know is that we were on a phone call together and we all agreed — everyone voiced their opinions on how they all wanted to do their own solo things and from that, we released statements—so that’s all I know.”

The good news is that it’s just a temporary split.

“We all agreed to take a break and to pursue individual endeavors after the tour. And there was always a plan to stay together and after The Wanted touring and after our break,” Kaneswaran explained to Perez Hilton. “We spent the past four years in each other’s pocket, so the timing kind of felt right.”

Siva also shared with Perez that The Wanted will be back as a group, but they’re not sure when:

“I think in the agreement we had, we’ll come back together when we all naturally felt like we’d all come back together. But The Wanted never split up, we never really split up.”

Siva also revealed to Perez what fans can expect from him:

“I’ve got my own sound in the band and the boys liked me because of my sound. And that’s what I’m going to release. I think I’m going to release a kind of indie sound and go down that road and just bring something new to the table and to the public to hear and to hear something refreshing.”

However, Max George had a different story to tell about the split, and it looks like One Direction may have played a part.

“One Direction are a phenomenon that no one else can compete with,” Max confessed in a new interview with The Sun (via Hollywood Life). ”They’ve taken over the market. We have our own fans, who we love, but we couldn’t stop things from happening.”

Wow it would be hard to compete with One Direction.  As much as it sucks that they broke up, I think they could all go one to have very successful solo careers.
