Derek Jeter announced on Facebook yesterday that the upcoming MLB season will be his last. Never has a player looked so good in a Yankees uniform!

“The 2014 season will be my last year playing professional baseball,” the longtime New York Yankees shortstop and captain said in a 15-paragraph note on his Facebook page. Funny that such a big announcement comes are way via social media, but that’s the world we live in today.

I think it’s great that fans will get to enjoy watching him play one more season and he will truly have the chance to say goodbye. Jeter suffered so many injuries last season and as a Jeter fan, it was hard to watch him not be able to perform at the high level of which we know he is capable.

Derek Jeter, 39, certainly has experienced it all! A five-time World Series champion and the 1996 AL Rookie of the Year, looks like Jeter would be eligible for the 2020 Hall of Fame ballot. No doubt he will be selected in!

Jeter is one of the top players of our generation. I’ve enjoyed watching this humble midwestern boy who grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan play America’s favorite pastime, the game of baseball.

Kind of ironic that I feature Mariah Carey for Throwback Thursday! Remember when Jeter and Carey dated?! That was one hot couple!
