Woman Gives Birth In NYC Street, Names Baby After Good Samaritan

All of those stereotypes about New Yorkers being rude and uncaring were pretty much shot after this story broke!

When Polly McCourt suddenly went into labor on Monday (February 24), her doorman rushed her outside to get a taxi to the hospital, but they quickly realized it was too late!

Luckily, East 68th street was filled with dozens of kind strangers that day who were willing to help, among them, a woman named Isabelle who graciously gave McCourt her coat, according to People.

“She had to go home without a coat on. She gave my husband her phone number and he lost it in the commotion,” the 39-year-old mother of three told the New York Daily News.

Polly hasn’t been able to reach the woman to thank her, but she did find a way to pay tribute to her – the baby girl’s name is Ila Isabelle McCourt!

According to the New York Daily News, Polly and Ila are doing well following the unconventional birth, though it may have been enough excitement to last the McCourt family a lifetime!
