Well-known fashion designer L’Wren Scott was sadly found dead today (March 17) in her New York City apartment from an alleged suicide, the New York Daily News reports.
Scott, 49, is said to have contacted her assistant at around 8:30 this morning, asking her to come to her home. Upon entering the apartment at 10am, the woman reportedly found Scott hanging from a scarf, which was tied to a doorknob, police told the New York Post.
Sources are reporting that officials did not find a suicide note and are not suspecting foul play at this time, though an official report has yet to be released from the medical examiner.
Born Luann Bambrough in Roy, Utah, the late fashion icon started her career as a teen model in Paris before going on to become a renowned Los Angeles stylist, eventually launching her own brand in 2006. Through the years, Amy Adams, Nicole Kidman, Sarah Jessica Parker, Angelina Jolie and First Lady Michelle Obama have been known to wear Scott’s designs.
Scott had also been dating Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger since 2001, and a rep for the singer told the BBC that he was “completely shocked a devastated” by the news of her passing.
