It’s been nearly 15 years since the final episode of the classic ‘90s sitcom “Boy Meets World” aired on our TVs, but soon, all of that wholesome magic will be available to an entirely new generation with the spinoff “Girl Meets World.”
The show will feature Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel reprising their roles as America’s favorite couple, Cory and Topanga Matthews, and their two children Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and Auggie (August Maturo.)
And while most of the series will revolve around the Jr. High-hijinks of Riley and her best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter), we can still expect main characters from “Boy Meets World” to pop up every now and again!
According to Entertainment Weekly, a special holiday episode will feature the original Matthews parents – Alan (William Russ) and Amy (Betsy Randle) – as well as Cory’s bestie Shawn Hunter (Rider Strong)!
Additionally, The Hollywood Reporter writes that the ever-wise Mr. Feeny (William Daniels) will be featured in the “Girl Meets World” pilot, while Cory and Shawn’s former nemesis, the geeky Minkus (Lee Norris), is also slated for a guest spot.
Show runner Michael Jacobs has also hinted that the quirky Eric Matthews (Will Friedle) could make his return, as well as any other “Boy Meets World” originals that want to be a part of the spinoff.
“Whoever wants to be part of this show will be and whoever wants to move on will,” Jacobs explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “The most important thing is to see what the show is and then see what their part in it will be.”
“Girl Meets World” is set to debut on the Disney Channel sometime this year, though a specific date has yet to be announced.
