Report: Chelsea Handler To Step Down From ‘Chelsea Lately’

For nearly a decade, Chelsea Handler has brought her own unique brand of snarky comedy to the late-night game on E!’s Chelsea Lately. But will all of that be over soon?

In a recent statement to The Hollywood Reporter, the host/comedian’s manager Irving Azoff revealed that, when Chelsea’s contract with E! expires this year, she’s calling it quits.

“She hired me to figure out her life after E! We have at least seven suitors and many ideas,” Azoff explained, pointing to a possible radio show or another foray into late-night as potentially being in Handler’s future.

It’s always been hard to tell whether or not Handler’s unabashed words about E! through the many seasons of her show have been serious, as nearly everything she says is soaked in sarcasm and delivered in her signature deadpan style.

Still, in a recent interview with Howard Stern (via New York Daily News), Handler seemed to be anything but kidding when she stated of the network, “They don’t know what they’re doing. They have no ideas. It’s a failure.”

Meanwhile, Handler (39) may have also pointed to her final bow on the show while speaking with USA Today about her latest book Uganda Be Kidding Me, which currently sits at No. 3 on the New York Times Best Sellers List.

“I don’t know if I want to be talking about Justin Bieber when I’m 40,” Handler said.

Are you sad about the possibility of the end of Chelsea Lately, or are you looking forward to Handler’s next projects? Sound off below!
