Get your tissues out for this heartbreaking story. I’m seriously crying writing this. A dying Irish girl’s last dream came true when her favorite singer Ed Sheeran sang to her over the phone minutes before she died.
According to the Daily Mail, Triona Priestley, 15, from Dublin, had been battling cystic fibrosis and her final wish was to hear Ed Sheeran sing to her a song she loved called “Little Bird.”
Through a Twitter campaign called #SongForTri, the news made it’s way to Sheeran’s manager, Stuart Camp, who helped grant this young girl’s dying wish. Minutes before she took her last breath, Ed Sheeran reportedly called Triona to sing her “Little Bird” over the phone.
MTV reports that it was one of Triona’s friends, Lucy Hanlon, who helped organize the call after Camp reach out to her via email.
Hanlon later took to Facebook to write (via Daily Mail), “Triona left us listening to her idol surrounded by all the people who loved her. People’s respect is incredible. We would like to thank everyone. Goodnight, my angel. Sleep tight.”
I can’t even imagine how Ed Sheeran was able to get through the song! Afterwards he tweeted this:
Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking x
