Lorde Meets The Inspiration Behind Her Hit Song ‘Royals’ – See The Pic!

Many have speculated that Lorde’s debut single “Royals” was written about Hollywood ‘royalty’ but her real inspiration for the song came from somewhere very different!

During a 2013 interview with VH1, the then 16-year-old singer revealed that it was actually baseball player George Brett, the former third baseman for the Kansas City Royals, who gave her the idea for her now-famous lyrics.

“I had this image from the National Geographic of this dude just signing baseballs,” Lorde explained. “He was a baseball player and his shirt said, ‘Royals’…It was just that word. It’s really cool.”

Now, the singer has gotten the opportunity to meet the man who indirectly helped her win four GRAMMY awards, and the two snapped a pic that was tweeted yesterday by MLB.

“And now you’re Royal,” the caption reads.

According to E! News, the Hall of Famer and the pop superstar met while she was performing this week in Las Vegas.
