While it may seem ridiculous, ‘un-friending’ someone in this day and age often represents cutting ties with them – sometimes signifying the end of a romance or the dissolving of a friendship.

So what does it mean that Selena Gomez has quite literally unfollowed EVERYONE on her Instagram account?

Earlier this week, 21-year-old singer/actress reportedly cleaned house on her page, supposedly unfollowing BFF Taylor Swift and even on-again/off-again boyfriend Justin Bieber. Gomez also deleted a slew of photos featuring Kylie and Kendall Jenner from their weekend partying together at Coachella, The Huffington Post reports.

Then, on Tuesday, Gomez cryptically uploaded a screen shot of an article about Mary J. Blige’s 2007 album Growing Pains, which deals with not loving oneself enough despite having fame and fortune.

Selena’s supposed spring cleaning comes just a month after she allegedly gave her mother and stepfather the boot as her managers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gomez has since found new representation, signing a deal with WME and Brillstein; a decision which many speculate is related to her desire to be seen as more of an adult in her career.

Meanwhile, some are saying that Gomez, who spent time in rehab earlier this year for reported exhaustion, is just trying to stay on the straight-and-narrow in her personal and professional life, and eliminating the distractions.
