Justin Bieber Issues Another Apology For Racist Remarks, Sources Allege Blackmail

For the second time in less than a week, Justin Bieber has issued an apology for making racially inappropriate comments.

As previously reported, a video surfaced online yesterday (June 4) via TMZ and The Sun that shows a young Bieber singing his 2009 hit “One Less Lonely Girl,” but replacing with word girl with a racial slur and joking about murder and being in the Ku Klux Klan.

According to Page Six, the footage was captured when the singer was 14-years-old and filming his documentary Never Say Never.

Today, Bieber released a statement to US Weekly in which he expresses his desire to own up for his past actions:

Facing my mistakes from years ago has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever dealt with. But I feel now that I need to take responsibility for those mistakes and not let them linger. I just hope that the next 14-year-old kid who doesn’t understand the power of these words does not make the same mistakes I made years ago. At the end of the day I just need to step up and own what I did.”

Last week, a nearly identical situation occurred when a video that showed a teenage Bieber making a racist joke and using similar language was released (also by TMZ), after which the “Confident” singer issued an apology that stated he didn’t understand the weight of the words he was using at the time.

“As a young man, I didn’t understand the power of certain words and how they can hurt,” Bieber wrote on Twitter. “I thought it was OK to repeat hurtful words and jokes, but didn’t realize at the time that it wasn’t funny and that in fact my actions were continuing the ignorance.”

Some sources are alleging that Justin Bieber was being blackmailed with the original footage for some time. According to TMZ, a former employee of the Biebs demanded $1 million for the video that he stole off of Bieber’s hard drive. When Bieber and his reps refused, the asking price was apparently dropped to $800K, and then to $500K. However, pop star still wouldn’t pay and the clip was released.

Meanwhile, other sources are saying that it was actually TMZ who was doing the blackmailing, so these theories should certainly be taken with a grain of salt.

Will there be more controversial Justin Bieber videos in the near future? Do you think he was really being blackmailed? Sound off below!
