Should Canada do away with “O Canada” in favorite of Drake’s hit “Started From the Bottom”?

Toronto resident Jazz Cartier sure thinks it’s a good idea!

According to, Cartier has started a petition to make Drizzy’s hit the Canadian national anthem, stating, “Drake motivated a nation, and gave life to a city that needed its hero.”

“As proud Canadian, Drake should be nationally recognized for such a inspirational song,” Cartier continues.  “Canada as a country is shaping into its own, slowly but surely. Artists such as Bryan Adams, Celine Dione, Alanis Morissette, Shania Twain, and Michael Buble have done so much for us over the years. It is safe to say that, Canadas first Hip Hop superstar, Drake has reached that caliber.”

Apparently the ultimate goal is to gain enough signatures to catch the attention of the Canadian Prime Minister.

It’s certainly an interesting thought, but a far-fetched one at that!

On the other hand, Drake and Lil Wayne will be back together this summer at DTE on August 16th. Tickets for the show go on sale Friday June 20th.
