Interview: Afrojack Collaborates With Sting, But Wants to Work With U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers

The way Afrojack tells it, his ultimate goal is to not just be a dance music superstar, but a bona fide modern Renaissance man.

“I just want to get everything out of life there is,” gushed the Dutch DJ born Nick van de Wall during a recent interview with “I might do some acting for fun. I would love to play a zombie on The Walking Dead. The Entourage movie is coming up. If they would go to a club and there would be a DJ, I don’t want to be the DJ, I’d want to be the bouncer. Just for fun, as a gimmick. That would be funny,” he smiled, with his 6-foot-9 frame making the idea of portraying a bouncer on the big-screen quite feasible.

Firing off a series of interests he’d like to someday pursue including art, producing events, and a litany of thrill-seeking activities like base jumping and auto racing, Afrojack’s enthusiasm for life is what fuels his music, most recently on display in the form of Forget the World, his debut studio full-length that bowed earlier this year.

“The message that I wanted to send out is that I came here to where I am today by following my heart and following what I think is fun and what I think is cool,” he explained when asked about the inspiration behind the album’s title.

Forget the World features a litany of high-profile guest artists, including Snoop Dogg, Tyler Glenn of Neon Trees and Wiz Khalifa, none brought as much gravity to the proceedings as legacy rock superstar and former frontman of The Police, Sting, who worked with Afrojack on the album track “Catch Tomorrow.”
