Is Harry Styles Leaving One Direction For A Solo Career?

Say it isn’t so!

Rumors surfaced last weekend that Harry Styles was planning on breaking free from One Direction to start a solo career. The reports initially stemmed from an article by Digital Spy in which Kodaline frontman Steve Garrigan suggested he and Harry recently wrote a song together and that it might appear on the superstar’s upcoming album.

“It was really strange how they came about,” Garrigan said of working with Styles. “He just turned up to a show, and he likes our music. We had a bit of free time and so we went to the studio and wrote a song. It was good fun.”

“It could be on his album if he does something, but I don’t know,” the singer continued. “Nothing is set in stone.”

From there, social media was alight with Directioners worrying that Harry might be hitting the studio for a solo effort and ditching his 1D bandmates.

However, a spokesperson for the boy band has since told E! News that, while Styles and Garrigan may have written a new song together, Harry is not thinking of releasing it on his own.

“There are no plans for Harry to release any solo music at this time, any writing that he is doing is for potential One Direction songs,” the rep assured. “It’s common knowledge that the boys write separately and bring to each other for the album.”

Well that’s a relief! Here’s hoping we can hear the Harry Styles/Steve Garrigan collaboration on the new 1D record!
