Solange Knowles Addresses Jay Z Fight In ‘Lucky’ Interview

Though the elevator fight between Solange Knowles and Jay Z was pretty much the only thing people could talk about following the Met Gala this past spring, the people directly involved certainly didn’t speak much on the subject.

After the security camera footage was leaked online, Beyoncé, Solange and Jay opted to release a joint statement about the situation and then seemingly moved on:

As a result of the public release of the elevator security footage from Monday, May 5th, there has been a great deal of speculation about what triggered the unfortunate incident,” the statement read.“But the most important thing is that our family has worked through it. Jay and Solange each assume their share of responsibility for what has occurred. They both acknowledge their role in this private matter that has played out in the public. They both have apologized to each other and we have moved forward as a united family.”

Now, during a recent cover interview with Lucky Magazine, Solange has decided to address the situation on her own, though she does not elaborate on how or why it all went down.

After referring to the physical altercation as “that thing,” the 28-year-old singer said, “What’s important is that my family and I are all good. What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that.”

There still has been no direct confirmation about what sparked the fight, though rumors suggested that Solange was angry with Jay Z for allegedly flirting with fashion designer Rachel Roy and for planning on attending Rhianna’s after party without Beyoncé.

What do you think about Solange’s words on ‘Elevator-Gate’? Did she downplay the situation? Sound off below!
