Many of Rita Ora’s fans were disappointed when she didn’t take the stage to perform at this year’s Teen Choice Awards as planned, and now, the reason why has been revealed.

Despite the fact that Ora and her ex Calvin Harris are said to have ended their relationship on good terms, the 23-year-old singer revealed during a recent interview with Ryan Seacrest that he stopped her from being able to sing “I Will Never Let You Down” at the TCAs; a song which Harris and Ora co-wrote.

“I was supposed to perform, and for anyone that doesn’t understand how it works, he wrote and produced the song – I mean, he’s an incredible songwriter, never going to disregard his talents, he’s incredible,” Rita revealed. “So he has to approve anything TV-wise, for anybody that doesn’t get it, so he has to approve the rights to [use the song] and he didn’t approve the Teen Choice Awards.”

When asked if she was disappointed about the situation, Ora said, “Yeah, I’m not going to lie, but not for my own selfish feelings, it was for my fans…the show was going to be awesome and we put so much work and money into the show…I put my own money into the performance like I always do.”

“Everything happens for a reason, that’s how I looked at it,” she concluded.

Then, yesterday, Harris took to Twitter to admit that he had blocked Ora from performing the song, also taking a bit of a jab at her in the process.

Ouch! Here’s hoping that things get worked out between the two of them, because we LOVED hearing Rita sing “I Will Never Let You Down” at our #SwitchParty last week!
