What a disappointment the Lifetime Aaliyah movie was. I did not watch it.

Prior to it airing, I heard countless reviews about how horrible it was going to be, so I thought “why bother?” I’d rather keep my memories of this amazing talent as I hold them.  She deserved so much better.

Let’s do damage control and put this R&B jewel, Aaliyah, in the spotlight this week for Throwback Thursday!

Aaliyah was truly someone special. I’m thankful that I had the chance to meet her and hang out with her  backstage in Chicago.

She was so down to earth, friendly and beautiful inside and out. She gave me fitness tips and we chatted about make-up.  We also talked about music, dancing and the roaring ’20s.

It was a Halloween show and I was dressed up as a flapper girl and she loved my costume! Most artists hide out in their dressing room until showtime, but not Aaliyah. She hung out with all of us for hours even watching other acts until her curtain time.

She was simply a real cool chick.  I’ll forever cherish that night.

Gone too soon at just 22, her final masterpiece captures all of her beauty.  Even today, watching it is just breathtaking. LOVE LOVE LOVE this song and music video for “Rock The Boat“! We miss you baby girl!
