Big Sean Addresses Naya Rivera Breakup, Opens Up About Relationship With Ariana Grande

With two high-profile relationships under his belt, Big Sean is becoming as well known for his romantic ties as he is for his music.

But unlike many celebs, the laid-back Detroit rapper doesn’t have a problem talking about his personal life, and in a recent feature in Complex Magazine, Sean opened up about his very public breakup with ex-fiancé Naya Rivera.

When asked about their decision to part ways, the “IDFWU” star said that he and the Glee actress had started arguing more than they got along, but things got messy afterwards.

Fans will remember that Rivera accused Sean on stealing one of her Rolex watches after their split, writing on Twitter, “@bigsean stealing rolexes from a lady’s house now. Maybe cuz I’m on Glee and making more money or something. #triflin.”

Rivera quickly deleted the tweeted, but it was enough to get rumors started. Regarding the accusations, Sean told Complex, “First of all, why would I have to steal a Rolex? Second of all, every Rolex that I have, I have receipts for, papers for, certificates of authenticity for. I would never steal a Rolex from anybody.”

“You see the tweet got deleted in like 20 seconds,” he added. “I felt like it was unnecessary drama ’cause in my eyes it wasn’t true. I wasn’t surprised by it. Even though I didn’t steal anything, I wasn’t surprised by it.”

Nowadays, Big Sean is dating pop superstar Ariana Grande, and he explains that the fact that they started out as friends has really helped their relationship become “something special.”

“It was cool to have a girl that I could talk to about my problems,” Sean reflects. “I did that with [Grande]. It’s not some fake-ass, inauthentic s*** when I say we were friends. This is something special and I appreciate every moment of it.”

When it comes to dating in the public eye (they’re relationship was confirmed when they were spotted holding hands backstage at the VMAs in September), Sean seems confident it won’t affect his relationship with the “Problem” singer.

“I don’t think about it like that,” he explained. “You can’t be afraid, because when you’re afraid you don’t give it your all.”
