While Travis Barker was in studio with KROQ morning show hosts Kevin & Bean Friday (Jan 15), to reveal his Musink Festival lineup, he brought his fans up to speed on his current projects, which include a new Blink-182 album in 2016, as well as a music from Antemasque, two EPs with Transplants, and a solo album.
“2015 was the start of all of that. The Antemasque album with Cedric and Omar from Mars Volta is finished. The last 2 songs are being mixed. I talked to Omar a couple of days ago, it’s coming out this year for sure. Transplants album… our covers are done and now we are finishing up some like B-sides and unreleased songs we never finished.”
“The solo album is coming along,” Barker continues. “I actually just sent a record to Pusha T from the Clipse who’s great. He’s the new president of GOOD Music, Kanye’s record label. So yeah, I’m working on that really late at night. I do obscene hours. I come home from the studio at 4am when I’m doing that. And then Blink album is coming together. I’m excited. I don’t want to reveal too much. I don’t know how many songs we’re gonna write before we say ‘this is the group of 12 songs we’re putting on the album.’ We have 15-20 songs right now, but I really feel like it’s a process.”
“It’s awesome because we’re all actually in the studio, where we couldn’t get that with the old lineup. It was impossible to get all three of us in the same studio… I think with a band you can’t just phone it in. You gotta be there. For that great chemistry and for everyone to really vibe you gotta all be in the same room. It’s just exciting. It’s a new chapter and we’re not striving for mediocrity, we’re looking to kill it. We’re gonna make a great album.”
Travis also revealed that a new Blink-182 album might drop this summer.
“There’s tentatively some plans to play shows during summer. Everything will come together and be revealed in due time. It’s gonna be great.”
