"We gotta make sure he doesn't do something stupid to mess it all up."

By Hayden Wright

Justin Bieber and Ed Sheeran are friends. Friends compliment each other, but they also point out blind spots their pals might not see. As someone who’s been through the ups and downs of life in the public eye, Justin Bieber knows (perhaps better than anyone) how quickly public adoration can sour with childish antics, ill-advised nights out and other bad decisions. So when he began to tell BBC Radio 1 about his friend Ed Sheeran, Justin started with the good news:

“I really appreciate his music,” Bieber glowed. “I appreciate who he is as a person. He’s an inspiration to a lot of young people—he makes awesome music that people are inspired by and that people laugh to, cry to and I think it’s important in music to have those people who bring the emotion out of you… There’s something about him that just makes you like him. He’s very likable and very, very talented.”

But then Bieber, perhaps wizened by years of scrutiny, hit ’em with the bad news:

“Let’s hope he doesn’t… We gotta make sure he doesn’t do something stupid to mess it all up,” Bieber said. Let’s hope not, indeed!
