Sometimes artists need to unplug from all the technological distractions around them in order to focus on creating. At least, that’s what Kanye West told fans on Twitter yesterday (September 13).

“I got rid of my phone so I can have air to create,” he tweeted. The rapper, who’s currently on his Saint Pablo Tour, presumably will not be unplugging altogether since he’s still using Twitter. But what exactly is he creating? The album he’s working on with Drake? The follow up to The Life of Pablo? Something else entirely?

He was spotted backstage at the Philips Arena in Atlanta surrounded by 2 Chainz and Andre 3000. 2 Chainz shared a picture on Instagram of the three conferring. “Can you imagine what we are talking about,”  he wrote. No, we really cannot, but we’re so excited to hear it.

West can be seen holding his cellphone in that picture, but it was only hours later that he decided to do away with the device so that he could focus his creative energies on other things. Like creating a killer track with two of Georgia’s finest.

Katy Perry approved of the move, re-tweeting Kanye in support, adding “unplug to connect.”
