It’s been just over a year since the passing of Bobbi Kristina Brown, and now, someone is being held accountable for her death.

According to E! News, Brown’s former boyfriend Nick Gordon failed to show up to court today for the wrongful death lawsuit filed against him by Brown’s estate. As it marked the second time Gordon was a no-show in court, a judge ruled that he is legally responsible by omission.

The wrongful death suit was filed in August 2015, just a month after Bobbi Kristina passed away in hospice care at the age of 22. Her death came seven months after she was found unconscious in a bathtub in her home, after which she was placed into a medically-induced coma.

Later, foul play was suspected, and Brown’s estate alleged Gordon had injected her with a toxic mixture of drugs and placed her into the bathtub after the two got into a violent altercation.

“We have said all along that we believed Nick Gordon was responsible for the death of Bobbi Kristina Brown,” a rep for Brown’s estate said after the ruling. “This judgment confirms our belief. Mr. Gordon had every opportunity to appear in Court and attempt to clear his name. He declined.”

In a separate statement, Bobbi Kristina’s father Bobby Brown said, “I am pleased with the outcome of today’s court proceedings. All I ever wanted was answers relating to who and what caused my daughter’s death. Today’s judgment tells me it was Nick Gordon. Now I need to process all the emotions I have and lean on God to get me and my family through this.”

Bobbi Kristina’s mother, Whitney Houston, was also found dead in a bathtub in February of 2012.

People reports that Gordon has not been criminally charged in the case, but an insider from the Fulton County District Attorney’s office said the investigation is “still ongoing.”
