The Beyhive is Mad that ‘Lemonade’ Didn’t Win an Emmy

Bey's fans didn't take kindly to the four snubs.

Beyoncé’s Lemonade premiered on HBO and was thus eligible for Primetime Emmy Awards, a rare feat for a pop release. It was even nominated in four categories: best direction, production design and editing for a variety special, as well as Outstanding Variety Special.

When Lemonade was shut out in all these categories, Beyoncé’s tribe of fans (the Beyhive) took it in stride and congratulated programs like Grease Live! for their triumphs. Just kidding—Bey fans went nuts and cried foul, just as you expected.

On the upside, Beyoncé didn’t attend the ceremony so she saved herself a trip and a fancy dress. And if HBO releases become standard operating procedure at Team Beyoncé, she’ll have more opportunities to collect Emmys in the future.
