'The Voice' won Best Reality Competition, but Grimmie wasn't featured in the 'In Memoriam' segment.

In June, singer Christina Grimmie was shot and killed by an attacker in Orlando, Florida, prompting an outpouring of grief and sadness from fans across the country. Grimmie came to prominence on television as a contestant on The Voice, and many expected the Television Academy to recognize her during its Emmy Awards “in memoriam” tribute. During last night’s telecast, Grimmie didn’t appear among the famous faces bid farewell by the TV Academy, eliciting outrage from her fans on Twitter. Here’s what they had to say:

Many said that the omission was made even more objectionable by The Voice‘s win for Best Reality Competition. It’s anyone’s guess why Grimmie, whose former show was on the Academy’s radar, missed the cut for the year-end tribute.
