The kids of Stranger Things became overnight sensations when the ultra-popular show debuted on Netflix this summer.

And while many greatly differ from their on-screen counterparts (specifically, Eleven), Gaten Matarazzo and his character Dustin have one major thing in common: the both have cleidocranial dysplasia.

The condition affects bone growth, specifically in the collar bones and teeth in Matarazzo’s case.

During a recent interview on The Jonathan Ross Show, the 14-year-old actor opened up about his disability, and why he thought it was important to incorporate it into his character’s backstory.

“It’s a condition where you are born without your collarbones; I don’t have any,” he explained. “It affects your facial growth, your skull growth, it affects your teeth. That’s why I don’t have any – these are fake – I have teeth but they’re all baby teeth.”

“I just wanna raise awareness for it,” Matarazzo continued, “and let people know that it’s not something that you should be afraid of showing.”

Just when we thought we couldn’t love Gaten any more!
