Did this Spice Girls reunion just go a bit sour?

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the girl group’s first single, “Wannabe,” Melanie “Mel B” Brown, Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton have announced plans for a reunion tour of sorts.

And though Victoria Beckham passed on the chance to hit the road again with her bandmates, that doesn’t mean she wants them to sing the classics.

“What we did in the Spice Girls was so special. If they sang Spice Girls songs I think I might be a bit sad,” the fashion designer said in an interview with the Sunday Times.

However, when asked if she wished the trio – known as ‘GEM‘ – well on their project, Beckham replied, “Of course, as a new group, I do. I [just] think they should sing their own material.”

Another Spice Girl who decided against the reunion tour was MelanieMel CChisholm, who explained in an interview with LOVE Magazine back in August that revisiting her days as Sporty Spice just didn’t seem appealing at this point.

“The hardest part for me was letting people down,” she said of her decision to opt out. “But something just didn’t feel quite right, and I had to follow my gut.”
