Perrie Edwards is telling all!

Little Mix is releasing a book called Our World, and in it, the 23-year-old Irish beauty opened up about the end of her relationship with Zayn Malik.

And despite the fact that the former One Direction star previously insisted that he did not break up with Edwards via text, she says quite the opposite in a passage from the book.

“It was horrible, the worst time of my life,” she said of her split with Malik. “A four-year relationship, two-year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that. Even though things my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me.”

Edwards credits her bandmates, Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall, with helping her get through that difficult time, but also adds that the minute she was alone, she’d start to break down.

“I surrounded myself with friends and family…I didn’t want to be alone because when I was I’d start to think about things and get upset,” she wrote. “It should have been a really happy time—my career was successful, ‘Black Magic’ was doing well, and we were traveling and performing. On the surface I was happy, but inside I felt broken.”

These days, Edwards is happily single, and currently promoting Little Mix’s new single “Shout Out to my Ex,” which was inspired by her breakup with Malik (who is now dating model Gigi Hadid).

However, that doesn’t mean that the pop star has stopped searching for love.

“I’m at the point where I want someone who’ll make me laugh, someone like me who’s spontaneous and fun, who wants to live life to the fullest,” she said in the book. “I want to be carefree and enjoy myself.”
