If Lady Gaga’s first single “Perfect Illusion” continued her club vibe and her second single “Million Reasons” showed off a quieter, Americana-laden turn then her third single “A-Yo” brings both of those strains together.

Lady Gaga continues her dalliance with country on “A-Yo,” which she shared today (Oct. 18). The stripped down song contains a strong hand-clap beat and a blues guitar to lend the whole thing a down home vibe, as if she were performing on a porch instead of a big stage. But even if Lady Gaga is exploring new sounds, she’s not wandering too far off track. There’s a strong element of self-empowerment to the song, which manages to exude a pop vibe amidst the country flare.

“I can’t wait to smoke ’em all/ Whole pack like Marlboro/ Blow it in your face, blow it in your face, blow it in blow it in your face/ I can’t wait to rev you up/ Faster than you can say “Ferrari,” she sings in the opening verse.

The track is our third taste of Gaga’s new album Joanne, which is set to be released this Friday (Oct. 21). Listen to “A-Yo” below.
